Lady Greyhounds Roll to Victory
1/26/2012 The Moberly Area Community College Lady Greyhounds were clicking on all cylinders as they took on Lindenwood-Belleville J.V. last night at Fitzsimmons-John Arena. MACC used two 13-0 runs in the first half to build a 50-15 halftime advantage and continued their dominating play en route to an 86-31 win and their 12th victory of the season. Mykel Boyd led four Lady Greyhounds in double figures with 18 points, while also collecting six rebounds, six steals, and four assists. Shanevian Holden with 14 points, Ashley Stevenson with 12 points, and Kayla Washington with 10 points, joined Boyd in double figures and all 11 players that saw action for MACC reached the scoring column. The Lady Greyhounds shot 51 percent from the field, including five of 11 on three point attempts, and held a 53-29 rebounding advantage in the game. Holden continued to be a force on the glass for MACC, grabbing a team high 8 rebounds in just 22 minutes of playing time. Tahsha Mitchell recorded seven rebounds, while Jessica Bygate and Washington had six rebounds each. All eleven players also recorded at least one rebound for the Lady Greyhounds and eight different players were credited with at least four rebounds. MACC recorded 25 assists on their 35 made baskets, with ShanToria Taylor dishing out a team high six assists, and committed only 15 turnovers. "It is pretty easy to get away from the things you stress on a daily basis in a game such as this one," said head coach Chad Killinger. "But, I was pretty pleased with how well we executed from an offensive standpoint and with the fact that we maintained our defensive intensity, despite working on some different things throughout the course of the game." "We still have areas that we definitely need to improve upon over the course of these last 10 games, but we really moved the ball pretty well and finally had some people attacking the rim off the dribble. Hopefully that is a good sign heading into the rest of our region schedule of games because I feel like we can be better than we have been on the offensive end of the floor." The Lady Greyhounds play at Three Rivers Community College this Saturday at 5:00 p.m. before beginning a four game home stand next Wednesday against Crowder College at 6:00 p.m.
