brownMoberly Area Community College head women’s basketball coach Chad Killinger recently announced the addition of Carnethia Brown from Pleasure Ridge Park High School in Louisville, Kentucky to the Greyhound Women’s 2016 recruiting class.

“Carnethia is a very good scorer,” said Killinger. “She can run the point or play off the ball as a shooting guard and we like to have that kind of versatility in the backcourt.”

Brown, 5-6, scored 1,500 points in high school, placing her fifth on the career scoring list at Pleasure Ridge Park. As a senior she averaged 19.6 points per game as she was named All Sixth Region and participated in the KABC East-West All-Star Game. She was also named honorable mention All-State by both the Louisville Courier-Journal and Lexington Herald-Leader. During her junior year Brown was named All Sixth Region as she averaged 17.4 points per game, she was named honorable mention All-Region as a sophomore and was the Most Valuable Player for her Kentucky squad in the 2015 Battle of the Bridges, an all-star event against a team from Indiana.

“We have had some players from Louisville be pretty successful for us in the past,” said Killinger. “I’ve known Carnethia’s AAU coach, Armond Wilson, for quite some time and I know that she has been pushed to be her best both on and off the court. When she visited I was impressed not only with what she was able to do on the floor, but how she carried herself off the floor as well. It really seemed like the perfect fit for us and for her and we are excited to have her as a part of our program.”

Brown is the eighth signee to join the most recent recruiting class for the MACC Women’s program. “I really like the potential that this recruiting class brings to the table,” said Killinger. “We have added a little bit of everything with this group to go along with a solid group of returners who worked pretty hard this past spring to continue getting better.”
