Moberly adds two freshman, transfer

5/18/2016
The Moberly Area Comm. College Men’s Basketball Team added three players to their roster for the 2016-17 season. Joining MACC are 6’7”, 215 lb. freshman forward Kenneth Leslie(St. Louis, Mo.), 6’6”, 220 forward Austin Trice (Chicago, Illinois) and 6’6”, 170 lb. guard Tyree White. Leslie played his senior season in high school at Christian Brothers where he averaged 13.7 ppg and 9.8 rebounds for a 19-7 state tournament squad. He signed an NCAA Division I Letter of Intent with Northern Colorodo University where he redshirted last season due to injury; he will have four seasons of eligibility remaining. Leslie played his junior season of basketball at Ellsbury High School(Mo.) where he averaged 20 points per game along with 11 rebounds.

Trice played his high school ball at Hales Franciscan in the Chicago Catholic League where he averaged 12.1 points per game and 8.8 rebounds. He helped them to a 20-14 record and is capable of playing both forward spots for the Greyhounds next season. Trice is a tremendous athlete with a good solid skill package.

White is a legitimate 6’6” guard who played his high school ball at North Tech High School in Florissant, Missouri. He averaged 16.3 points per game along with 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks. Very athletic, he will play both wing spots for Moberly and will give them tremendous length on the perimeter.

“We are very pleased with these latest additions to our program,” said Coach Patrick Smith, “We feel like we are adding excellent overall size along with having versatile players who can play multiple positions. Leslie is a very highly regarded player who is a tremendous rebounder along with having good skills. Trice is a high energy player who will bring a high degree of athleticism and has played against top notch competition. White has great potential and gives us that bigger wing who can create mismatches, just an outstanding athlete.”

Smith stated that the Greyhounds will probably sign 4-5 more players as they prepare to defend their regional and district championships.
