Improves record to 3-0

11/9/2016
The Moberly Area Comm. College Men’s Basketball improved their early season record to 3-0 with a 90-63 victory over John Wood CC on Tuesday evening at the Fitzsimmons-John Arena. John Wood came out and nailed five 3 point shots to start the game and grab a 15-10 early lead. The Greyhounds tightened up defensively and went on a 14-0 run behind three made treys by sophomore guard Delfincko Bogan to grab a 24-15 lead.  Moberly lead 45-32 at the half and the lead never got below double figures the remainder of the game.  Sophomore guard Brandon Better and 6’7” sophomore post DeMarco Owens had 18 points each to lead the Hounds in scoring while Bogan added 11 to their balanced scoring attack.  John Woods was lead in scoring by Schlotzhauer with 14 points while Lincoln Elbe added 11 as they dropped to 1-1 on the season.

“I thought we came out a little sluggish, but John Wood’s shooting definitely  contributed to that,” said MACC  Coach Patrick Smith, “With that said, liked our perserverance and how we really stepped it defensively.  Now it’s onto a very good Southeastern Iowa squad on the road Friday and must continue to improve and become more consistent.”
Moberly returns to action Friday evening at 7:00 pm in West Burlington, Iowa as they play Southeastern Iowa in one of oldest rivalries in Jr. College Basketball.
