MACC improves to 23-3 with tough win

The MACC Men’s Basketball Team defeated Southeastern Iowa 85-77 on Monday evening at the Fitzsimmons-John Arena. Moberly jumped to an early 11- 4 lead, but the remainder of the first half was a close contest with the Greyhounds leading 43-39 at the half. After falling behind by three, Moberly came back to gain a 57-54 lead they would not relinquish. However, Southeastern Iowa stayed hot from three point range and closed to within 74-72 with two minutes remaining.

Delfincko Bogan scored back to back baskets to extend the margin and help MACC gain the victory. Sophomore guard Brandon Better led Moberly in scoring with 32 points, sophomore forward Leonard Harper-Baker scored 22 points along with 13 rebounds and Bogan contributed 18 points. Guard Chris Myers led Southeastern Iowa with 30 points while Jackson added 14 and Albright scored 12 points.

Moberly improved to 23-3 on the season while Southeastern Iowa dips to 14-14 on the season. “I give a lot of credit to Coach Watkins and his Southeastern Iowa squad,” said Moberly Coach Patrick Smith, “they played and competed really well, just shot the lights out. However, I'm real pleased with our team’s ability to grind out the win through good, efficient offense and making some defensive adjustments. Big week for us, got game one and now it’s on to the next game.”

Moberly hosts Missouri State-West Plains on Wednesday, February 15 at 7:00 pm.
