#11 ranked MACC Improves record to 4-0 with road victory

11/14/2016
The Moberly Area Comm. College Men’s Basketball Team improved their record to 4-0 with an 88-77 victory over Southeastern Iowa CC in West Burlington, Iowa.  The Greyhounds came out with tremendous defensive intensity and some hot three point shooting to build a 50-25 lean with the margin being 54-33 at the half.  Southeastern Iowa made some runs the second half, getting the deficit to 9 points on two occasions, but Moberly always answered with enough defensive stops and combination of field goals and free throw shooting.  6 ‘2” sophomore wing Brandon Better lead MACC in scoring with 19  points(5 made treys), sophomore PG Jabari Antwine and sophomore wing Delfincko Bogan had 14 points each while 6’1” freshman guard Anthony McIntosh added 12 points by going 12 -16 from the free throw line.  Dante Williams lead Southeastern in scoring with 22 points while Terrell Gray added 18 points.

“Really pleased to go to a very tough place to play and get a win like we did over a good Southeastern Iowa squad,” said Coach Patrick Smith, “We came out and got off to a great start and thought our pressure bothered them some.  Although we scored 54 first half points, I was most pleased with our defensive effort.  The second half we had some breakdowns on both sides of the ball that allowed the game to become reasonably close, we must learn to play better with a lead and execute better.  With that said, tremendous win and now we must continue to improve and find the next level of performance and competitiveness.”

Moberly returns to action in the State Fair Classic this Friday, November 18 at 3:00 pm vs. Kennedy King Junior College.

They also play Saturday at 3 pm vs. Westminister JV’s.
