After being named to the WBCA All-American team and receiving NJCAA All-Region 16 first team honors last month, MACC freshman guard Autumn Jones received another post-season award recently as she was named an honorable mention selection for the NJCAA Division I Women’s Basketball All-American team.

Jones becomes the second Greyhound Women’s player to be recognized by the NJCAA in the last three seasons, joining Alexis Newbolt, who was named as an NJCAA third team All-American following the 2014 season before signing with NCAA Division I Indiana State University. Jones, who is in the process of taking visits to determine her future destination, helped lead MACC to an 18-14 overall record and second place tie in the NJCAA Region 16 regular season standings.

“Autumn is one of the fiercest competitors that I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with,” said MACC head coach Chad Killinger. “She demands a lot of herself, really strives for perfection on an everyday basis, and expects her teammates to put forth the same effort. She gained a lot of confidence over the course of her one season with us and I’m excited to see where she will be playing next season and what kind of impact she can have on that program.”

Jones led MACC in several statistical categories, including scoring, assists, steals, three point field goals made, three point field goals percentage, and free throws made and attempted. She was the only player to appear in all 32 games for the Greyhound Women, while reaching double figures in scoring 26 times, scoring 20 or more points 12 times, and leading MACC in scoring in 17 games. She also led the Greyhound Women in assists in 21 games, as she recorded two double-doubles and tied the school record for three point field goals made with eight against Three Rivers Community College in the first round of the NJCAA Region 16 Tournament. That record tying performance came on the heels of a 35 point outburst against Jefferson College in the last regular season game of the year.
