The Moberly Area Community College women's basketball team appeared in the St. Louis Shootout this past weekend and came away with a 73-32 victory over Kaskaskia College.

The Greyhound Women held the Blue Angels to just 11 first half points as they took a 15 point lead into halftime despite their own struggles on the offensive end of the floor.

“We turned the ball over way too much,” said MACC head coach Chad Killinger. “But, I somewhat expected us to be a little out of sync after our win on Wednesday.”

The win Killinger was referring to was a 114-19 victory over Hannibal-LaGrange J.V. which saw the Greyhound Women score the majority of their points in fast break situations.

MACC found their offensive rhythm in the second half, while maintaining their defensive intensity, as they shot 20 of 33 from the field and made six of seven free throw attempts to outscore Kaskaskia 47-21.

Lunden Henry just missed a double-double with 10 points, nine rebounds and four steals. Anisha George and Nia Flowers finished with nine points each with George grabbing six rebounds. Brianna Perry scored eight points and had five rebounds, while Anna Stewart contributed eight points and eight steals. Angelica Wiggins had seven points and four rebounds.

“I was really impressed with how we defended,” said Killinger. “If we can continue to put forth that type of effort on the defensive end of the floor and continue to improve offensively we will give ourselves a chance to win a lot of games.”
