Greyhounds Improve to 13-4, Extend Winning Streak to 10 Games

The MACC Greyhounds continue to build momentum early in the season, improving to 13-4 overall after a decisive 17-7 road win over State Fair Community College Tuesday night.

The victory marked the team's 10th straight and came in their first midweek contest of the year — a game Head Coach Chris Fletcher said can often present unexpected challenges.

"It was a big win last night over State Fair," Fletcher said. "Going on the road in the midweek — it's the first midweek of the year and you never know what you're going to get on a Tuesday."

The Greyhounds relied on pitching depth to secure the win.

"Really credit to our guys for showing up," Fletcher said. "We kind of staffed it on the pitching side and ran out four to six different arms that really solidified us a victory."

Offensively, MACC continues to find its rhythm at the plate.

"Our offense is seeing the ball really well," Fletcher said. "They continue to swing it, put together good quality at-bats, started clogging the bases. We got the big timely hits when we needed it and got out of there with a victory."

The current win streak includes back-to-back four-game sweeps. The Hounds first went on the road to sweep Arkansas State University at Mountain Home in a hard-fought series that included an extra-innings finale.

"Game four, this is why sweeps are so hard," Fletcher said. "You've seen each other now for two days' worth of baseball. You get to game four and now you're in a dogfight."

MACC pushed across the go-ahead run in extras and leaned on its bullpen to close it out.

The momentum carried home, where the Greyhounds completed another four-game sweep against Milwaukee Area Technical College.

"In our sport, just to win a doubleheader is extremely difficult," Fletcher said. "Being able to put that together back-to-back days is all kudos to the guys in our dugout."

With a 10-game winning streak and strong contributions on the mound and at the plate, the Greyhounds are gaining confidence as the season continues.

"We're taking it week by week," Fletcher said. "We just ask these guys to show up every day and give us their best."

For now, MACC is doing just that — and stacking wins along the way.
