Greyhounds Close Regular Season at 34-17, Earn No. 1 Seed in Region 16 Tournament

The MACC Greyhounds closed out an impressive regular season with a 34-17 record, earning the No. 1 seed in the NJCAA Division II Region 16 Tournament.

It marks the culmination of a strong spring for MACC, highlighted by a 10-game winning streak, multiple four-game sweeps, and four weeks ranked inside the NJCAA Division II Top 25. The Greyhounds consistently found ways to win behind a balanced approach of timely hitting, deep pitching, and a team-first mentality that Head Coach Chris Fletcher has emphasized all season.

"This group has stayed consistent in how they show up every day," Fletcher said. "They've bought into what we're trying to do as a program and, more importantly, they've bought into each other. That's what's allowed us to stack wins and put ourselves in this position heading into the postseason."

MACC's success has been fueled by standout individual performances within that team framework. Freshman pitcher Tate Alexander emerged as a key arm, earning his 10th win of the season in a victory over North Central Missouri College on April 24. Meanwhile, sophomore AJ Lucas paced the Greyhounds offensively, collecting 67 hits in 157 plate appearances for a .427 batting average, including 18 home runs.

With the regular season complete, the Greyhounds now turn their attention to postseason play as the top seed in Region 16. The tournament will take place May 7–8 at East Central College in Union, Missouri.

MACC will open tournament play at 3:00 p.m. on May 7, facing the winner of East Central College and North Central Missouri College.

As the No. 1 seed, the Greyhounds enter the bracket with momentum and confidence, but Fletcher remains focused on the same approach that carried them through the regular season.

"The message doesn't change," he said. "Show up, compete, and play for each other. If we do that, we like our chances against anybody."

With a strong resume, a cohesive roster, and postseason play on the horizon, the Greyhounds now look to turn a successful regular season into a championship run.
