MACC GREYHOUNDS DEFEAT MISSOURI STATE–WEST PLAINS, 90–63
Greyhounds to Host State Fair on Wednesday in Region 16 Doubleheader
The Moberly Area Community College men's basketball team defeated Missouri State–West Plains College, 90–63, on Saturday afternoon at Fitzsimmons-John Arena. Moberly jumped out to a 37–25 halftime lead and coasted to the Region 16 victory.
The Greyhounds were led in scoring by freshman guard Caleb Estes with 24 points, including six three-pointers. Sophomore 6'8" post Rony Mbandou added 15 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman forward Julian Doyle recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while freshman guard Harrison Bailey-Howard contributed 10 points.
"Very strong comeback performance by our team after a tough loss at Three Rivers," said head coach Patrick Smith. "This season is about continual evolution and change, and our team needs improved execution of our system in all areas. We must be more consistent possession by possession and eliminate bad defensive possessions and what I refer to as 'lost possessions' on offense. We are in the midst of Region 16 play, and our region is extremely competitive and tough this season. This presents a tremendous opportunity for our team to grow and develop as we strive to reach the next level of team growth."
Moberly now stands at 16–2 on the season, earning its 11th win in the last 12 games, and is currently ranked 16th nationally in the latest NJCAA Division I poll. The Greyhounds will host State Fair in a Region 16 doubleheader on Wednesday, January 14, with the Lady Greyhounds tipping off at 5 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7 p.m.
